Archive for 4 months

I have a Chihuahua puppy and she is 4 months old today. I have had her for about a month and a half now and she has been doing really well with potty training. She is only about 1.6 lbs. at the moment and I am training her to go on the indoor piddle pads because she is so small and I don’t think the freezing weather outside would be good. Anyways, she does good most of the time with going on the pad, but randomly I find that she sniffs on the pad, and then totally gets off of it about 2 inches and then does her business. It drives me crazy! She does this only when she poops though. It’s strange. I also notice that sometimes she will poop on a rug, but never pees anywhere random, only the pee pad.

The pee pad is always in the same spot, so I don’t confuse her. I do admit that I only change the pad about once or twice a day, but after she poops on it, i pick it up and flush it down the toilet. As for pee, she doesn’t go a ton and it is very little. Do you think that she poos elsewhere because there isn’t a "bare" spot on the pad or what?

She is 4 months old and if left alone for just 2 minutes will start to freak out and bark and whine. We have had her for only about a week. Has not been left alone for more than 5 minutes. I know it is not in a dogs nature to be alone but eventually we will have to leave her unsupervised for a few hours.

My roommate and I just bought a new puppy. We’re not for sure if he’s house trained (no accidents so far but we’ve only had him for a couple of hours) and the woman at the pet store couldn’t tell us for sure. He’s also been nawing on us and pillows. We believe he’s teething right now. For the house training, in case he isn’t trained, what are ways we can trained him that have worked for others. And how we can we teach him not to naw on certain items. Any info would be great. Thanks.

In case anyone needs or wants to know, he’s 4 months old and a terrier/brindle mix.
