How to Potty Train a really dumb puppy?

Posted by: Admin | Comments (11)

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my dog. But truly and honestly, she isn’t the smartest thing. I mean really, she’s realllllly stupid. Like tries to chew on walls stupid. I have to be REALLY clear when trying to train and teach her, and even then it seems to take twice as long even with something as simple as "Sit" (Which she just finally picked up).

She’s a Japanese Chin, almost 5 months old and not even a little bit potty trained. I was hoping to have been able to potty train her over the summer, but now I’m enrolled as a full time student taking 23 credits this semester.

I can’t seem to make a clear connection between bad potty and good potty. It’s like whenever I get mad at her for going in the wrong spot she’s confused as to why, even if I catch her in the act and rub her nose it in. That, and she NEVER goes potty in the right place, so I can’t reward her or praise her for doing it.

I recently just got a puppy and ive been trying to train him to potty on the puppy pad.
He pottys on the pad when i supervise him, however sometimes whenever im not paying attention he pees and poops on rugs (never on the actual carpet).
Could the puppy think that the rug is a puppy pad?
Thanks and any tips on helping me potty train my pup would be nice as well

We just got a new puppy and he is not potty trained. What would be a quick method to stop him from ruining his new bed and our carpet.

Bully puppy potty training tips?

Posted by: Admin | Comments (4)

I have a 4 month old English Bulldog that likes to go pee-pee and poop on the carpet (not just one spot either). We are bought pee-pee pads for her, but she will not use them, she smells them and then walks away and goes on the carpet. I am at my wits end as to why she isn’t consistent with where she goes potty. She will go outside and use the potty, and we take her out frequently so I am pulling my hair out as to why she is doing this. When she goes on the carpet we rub her nose in it and tell her bad, but she rebels and finds a new place to pee-pee. Our last puppy had no issues with using the pee-pee pads or potty training. Does anyone have any tips as to approach her potty training issues? I am willing to try just about anything.

Puppy potty training boxes?

Posted by: Admin | Comments (1)

I am curious about a service I saw advertised a while back that agreed to provide a puppy potty training box so long as you agreed to use their service for the replacement grass monthly. I live in the San Fernando Valley in California and was wondering if anyone has used this service and has this company’s contact information. Or if anyone in my area has one of these boxes that they would consider loaning out or selling. I have looked at two different brands online and they are quite expensive and not something I really want to invest in as it will only be used for the potty training period (fingers crossed, won’t be too long). I live in a condo and on the first floor and have a patio that is large enough to house one of these potty boxes.
If anyone has any information, please let me know. Thanks!
Thanks Kristen, for your input. I am not going to only use this potty box idea for training, of course I plan on walking the puppy a lot outside (on sidewalks mainly until puppy has all her shots) but I wanted to have something near by to whisk the puppy to when I catch her in the act of defecating or urinating on the carpet… I’m sure it will happen despite my most vigilant efforts. Anyway, I did consider shavings but thought maybe grass would be more natural to the dog. I took in a dobe puppy years ago who had been trained to go to the bathroom on shavings and transitioning him to grass was no problem. So we’ll see, but thanks for your input :)
