Daily temperament for puppy training class?
Posted by: | CommentsI am beginning puppy classes at my local PetSmart today with my 4 month old pup. Would it be wise for me to have her nap before hand so she’s refreshed or to work out some energy by means of a walk or quick trip to the dog park? Curious as to which would be a more conducive temper for her to be in to learn the best. Thanks!
How should I start crate training my puppy?
Posted by: | CommentsMy Golden Retriever/Black Lab Mix is 9 weeks old.I go to school and my family goes to work and my pup gets left alone for about 7 hours. What I used to do is let him roam free, but now he is starting to urinate and poop inside the house. Im going to get his crate today, but what should I stock it up with??, if anything. Also, I know he is going to start whining when I put him inside the crate. So how can I introduce him to his crate?? Is it ok to leave a 9 week old puppy in a crate for 7 hours??
Have I ruined my puppies training?
Posted by: | CommentsI have a 16 wk old Maltese (learning crate training/play pen inside) & for the 1st weeks I was potty training him by taking him outside but where I live it rains a lot. Since he is so tiny (2 1/2 pounds) & close to the ground I couldn’t take him out for 2 weeks straight because he gets wet and then freezes inside. During that time I tried to do the pee pad training at least, which he gets right about 75% of the time now but I’m trying to get him to learn both & all he does outside is play! Have I ruined my chances of potty training him outside?
I also had a few days where I had to leave him during the day & now he is getting a little aggressive/suffering from bad habits he didn’t have before. Have I ruined my chances of having the sweet puppy I had at first?
I also tried taking him to two different Pet Smarts and both trainers couldn’t deal w/ such a small pup. I don’t have a lot of money for classes, do you have any suggestions to help me train him at home?
